Also, the story about the math theory is false. The number started when a math major (I&#039;m a math major, I&#039;ve read the thesis) facetiously attempted to show that the number came up more often in nature than one would expect. Most people think he chose 47 because it was prime and the number of the exit one takes to get to Pomona.</description>
